Progress on Goals for the Week
July 27th, 2008 — Weight Loss Tips
Since we are leaving for Boston this morning and not getting back until Sunday night I thought I would post an update today on my goals for the week since I won’t be posting my normal Sunday update (and unless I have the time and a computer in the hotel I probably won’t be posting at all).
For this week I had established four goals: Complete Week 4 of the One Hundred Pushups Challenge, run Tuesday night when I was staying over for work, run in Boston and replace 4 meals throughout the week with protein shakes.
Fat vs Thin Which is the Best Option

With the rising levels of obesity and so much focus on being overweight it does tend
to be in the media spotlight rather a lot, every so often when I catch the news which isn’t that often I might add. You can’t help but notice when a story related to obesity and overheating comes on the news.
It really does make you wonder which of the two is better I personally myself do not
like being fatter than I normally am even though I have put some weight on just recently I am aware of what has been causing it.

Foods: Functional, Franken or Fraudulent?
July 24th, 2008 — Diet
If someone from 50 years ago were to travel through time to the present day, they wouldn’t recognize most of the foods in our modern-day grocery stores. We’ve been busy tweaking our foods to comply with the whims, trends and science of the moment and in the process, we didn’t notice the deterioration of our collective health. With much of our health “knowledge” coming from market-driven big-food companies, the difference between “functional”, “Franken” and fraudulent foods has become blurry.
I’m going to try and offer some tips on how to differentiate and give some examples of each (based largely on opinion - I’m open to suggestions as always).
Weighing In: Wall-E Movie Equates Enviromental Decline with Fat People
July 22nd, 2008 — Weight Loss Tips
Pixar’s new animated movie Wall-E has received rave reviews, but is it a fair social commentary to equate obesity with environmental destruction?
The world of robot Wall-E is a dry, desolate future Earth, stripped of its ability to sustain life. The guilty carbon-based lifeforms responsible for this mess have retreated to an intergalactic lifeboat. Diabolically designed by mega-corporation “Buy N Large” to promote consumer dependency, the flying space oasis inevitably result of making Earth’s refugees morbidly obese.
Easy Ways to Eat More Greens

I loved the topic in the New York Times WellBlog… “Lying About Your Vegetables”. Another study has been published to show that people inflate the amount of veggies they consume each day. The blogger asks readers to “fess up” if they lie about their daily veggie intake.
The post inspired me to tell you about an easy way to plan to get your greens.
- Visualize a plate for each meal.
- Draw a line down the middle.
- Make half the plate vegetables.

Body Dysmorphia: the other side
July 19th, 2008 — Weight Loss Tips
Thanks to those who took the time to share their thoughts and opinions on the last entry. Yet, another reason why I love blogging!
I still stand by my initial thought about the dangers in the message regarding telling folks that you cannot lose weight, or that some people even if they eat a balanced diet and exercise consistently, will never lose weight. There is a layer of denial in the “fat/obese/overweight” community that does exist. And that, well, isn’t deniable.
